Purposefully designed environment for learning inside and outside.

Environment as the third teacher

Underpinning our approach to education is our attention to aesthetics in our environment and the intentionally-chosen materials that fill our classrooms. In the Reggio Emilia Approach, the environment is considered the third teacher, and can support or even detract from the learning that takes place within. We designed our environment with care and intention in order to support and enhance the kind of learning experiences we provide. From the inside out Tinkerseeds is a special place, designed by our founders to suit our programs' needs.

Outdoor Space

Tinkerseeds is situated on a quiet street in a leafy suburb of Taipei City in Zhongshan District. Visitors are first welcomed by our spacious outdoor deck which serves as an extension to our classrooms. Sunny days are perfect for painting outside, reading a book, or as a place for messier projects. Our deck is an inspiring space for the children and teachers to work, explore, and learn.

Sunlit Classrooms

Inside our classrooms, natural light pours in from large windows to create rich sensorial experiences. Our classrooms are adaptable in a flexible way to be responsive to the needs of the learning that takes place within. Access to resources like the sink for washing, writing tools for documentation, and other materials are within easy reach for the children. This supports their development of self-efficacy leading to a sense of flow as they work, build relationships, and thrive.

Beautiful Materials

The materials that fill up the shelves in our classrooms are chosen intentionally to support symbolic play, open-ended exploration, and meaningful literacy learning. In addition to staples like wooden blocks and art supplies, we're also drawn to natural materials and the beauty of repurposing found items for their interesting and unique properties. Found items like ribbons, old jewelry, and other loose parts are used throughout the year. The open-ended nature of this beautiful stuff offers opportunities for children to discover the materials' endless potential as tools for playful learning.
